It's not a common occurrence that Valve takes action against mods to its games, but that's exactly what's happening with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In fact, they're basically whipping out the ban hammer for folks who create servers that allow players to use custom skins for their various weapons.

Besides the returning map, the update for CS:GO makes some key changes to the controversial CZ75-Auto pistol, which was introduced earlier this year and made a big splash due to its overpowered nature. As recently as a year or two ago, it was easy to pick a free antivirus package. Almost any of a half dozen free virus scanners did an acceptable job, and largely stayed out of the way of the OS when configured properly. Times change, however. The event comes courtesy of European eSports organisation ESL, which is responsible for a suite of tournaments over the last decade including the recent ESL One Cologne event last weekend, the largest CS:GO tournament to date. The Witcher 3 has been, alongside GTA V, one of the biggest releases of the year. The game has seen one million PC activations via the company's GOG Galaxy service, netting a profit of $62.5 million USD in 1H15. First-half net profit of the Witcher 3 grew 768% over 2011 + 2012 figures. One such platform is CSGO Lounge (an independent site not affiliated with Valve Software, which develops the game itself). The site allows spectators to bet in-game add-ons known as skins – weapons, tools and the like – on the results of matches. Not all skins are created equal, and the rarity of some means they can cost hundreds of real dollars on marketplace sites like SkinXchange.com. The temptation is too much for some“Underage gambling is a huge problem,” SkinXchange lead developer Justin Carlson said in an e-mail, adding that he has had to call “countless” parents whose children have taken their credit cards without their knowledge. They use the cards to buy skins and bet on gaming on other sites. Many have “racked up hundreds or thousands of dollars in skins on SkinXchange just to lose them all on some betting or jackpot site,” Carlson said.

It's a system that tends to push players to spend a little at first to see if they get lucky, before they feel compelled to spend a whole lot more in hopes of earning their initial investment back. There are a few CS: GO Twitch streamers who open hundreds of cases per week while spectators watch in hopes of capturing the moment where something of great rarity is found. One of these streamers is ONSCREENlol, a very popular personality who opened more than 10,000 cases in 2015How do we compel those to not cheat? I think you don’t. Those that have already have a propensity to cheat in games will likely continue to do so, or attempt to do so, regardless of whatever policies are implemented. As can be seen in professional sports, even stringent policies won’t stop those that are truly bent on cheating the system. So until some magical potion can be developed, cheating in CSGO is going to be an issue for quite some time to come. Most players, and reviewers, placed blame of its low popularity on its inability to evolve the franchise. Veterans noted that it was a step back in a few ways, namely how the community server window was hidden from view in favor of matchmaking as well as its poor competitive scene support. It looked as if history was going to repeat itself, and CS 1.6 would remain the most popular title in the franchise despite its age.The popularity of skins extends well beyond just players being addicted to opening cases. The Community Market and websites like CSGOTraders specialize in hosting transactions between players, as they look to trade and sell their items in pursuit of higher rarity items, especially knives which are viewed as highly sought after. In some cases players dedicate many hours to trading up their acquired items in an effort to increase the value of their collection without spending additional money on buying keys to open cases.

The first big betting company to come in, spend a little money and do things correctly will win big, blowing the small- to medium-sized companies that are currently operating in this space out of the water.Skin Betting: Will Esports lose its shirt? It’d be fair to say that the regulated betting industry sees Esports betting as 2015’s hot topic. Perhaps in one year’s time it will have exploded or perhaps it will be consigned as a flash in the pan topic for gambling companies just as social gaming has been. In reality, Esports betting hasn’t just emerged over the past few months but has seen huge betting volumes wagered through unregulated markets since the opening of DotaLounge and more significantly, CSGOLounge, in August 2013, 12 months after the game’s release. It is not a coincidence that viewership of professional CounterStrike matches has grown from around 30,000 viewers to 500,000 viewers since the introductions of skins to the game and the various skin betting websites opened. No such websites undertake any age verification or form of KYC.the market defines the value of the items. This generally reflects how difficult it is to get an item. Valve’s own terms and conditions also reflect this expectation. Skins are generated when a user purchases both a case and a key from Valve, the game’s publisher. They run a quasi-slot machine mechanic, where their case and key, worth around £2, becomes a random item. Generally speaking, the rarer the item, the higher the value.OCUK also had show deals, offering cheaper prices on Samsung 850 EVO SSDs, PCI-E NVME SSDs and more, located in the gaming/eSports area.

Operation Wildfire l?uft übrigens bis zum 17. Juni 2016. Musik-Kits: Nur k?uflich im Spielmenü erh?ltlichI followed a simple list of steps, including disabling Windows' default anti-virus protection. I launched a new copy of CS:GO on a fresh Steam account belonging to “Perry C. Gamble,” “loaded” the cheat using the cheat loader, and entered a match. For the first time, I wasn't just another player, but a kind of god.The first thing you will want to do is sign up for a free account over at Twitch.tv. You aren't required to have an account to watch or comment on streams, although you do get more features by signing up for one. In addition to creating your own videos, signing up for an account will allow you to message and interact with other users, follow streams, and more. Once you have created your account, I recommend going to the Twitch settings, clicking on the Channel and Videos tab, and checking the "Automatically archive my broadcasts" box. This won't save old streams forever, however they will be stored on your channel for the next 14 days. You will also have the ability to export older broadcasts to YouTube and create video highlights that will be saved on your Twitch channel forever.

I think the apocalyptic predictions are a little off-base, but they're right in saying that TF2's drop from relevance can be partially linked to this problem, and that Dota 2's market has crashed significantly. I believe the pro scene could sustain itself without high-value betting via skins, but it would be a loss of revenue from one angle that would need to be replaced, and could stunt growth. Major sponsors aren't concerned with this sort of thing, but a large number of smaller ones are.How is this even possible? A regular seller on local gaming forums explained to Gadgets 360 how they're able to undercut Valve. You could argue that microtransactions are what saved Counter-Strike: Global Offensive from being doomed to an average-sized community. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the system is great.Mortal Kombat X has a lot of different little fight modifiers that you can enable yourself in offline "kustom kombat" matches, or you can roll the dice and play "test your luck" matches online or off, which dial up a handful of random modifiers and drop you into a battle. There are a lot of these, including basic stuff like lowering the recovery time on uppercuts or giving you more meter. Some of them make the screen wobble around or force you to fight upside down. One time I got something called "kick dive," which reduces your entire move-set down to just the Kung Lao-style dive kick. But I only saw that one pop up once and it doesn't seem to be on the kustom kombat list, which shows the modifiers whether you've unlocked them or not. Weird. It's strange and a little disappointing that you can't cook up some mix of custom modifiers, save them, and use them against friends in online matches. Your only option online is to play the random, test your luck variant. It's also worth noting that the game is extremely in-your-face about its after-purchase options. There's a 25th character, Goro, that comes with some pre-order copies of the game, but if you don't have him already, his icon shows on the character select screen with "PRESS X TO PURCHASE GORO" showing up when you attempt to select him. Goro appears to be for sale for $5. There's also a large window on the main menu that cycles through the season pass characters and some skin options that are also for sale. While I think the "Cold Steel" Sub-Zero skin looks really cool, the game presents its DLC in a really gaudy way. On top of that, the game can give you daily faction challenges for characters that you don't own. And, to round things out, a handful of characters that don't appear as playable show up in the story, including Tanya, who is one of the four characters coming as part of the game's season pass. They'll even sell you packs of consumable "easy fatality" tokens, in case pausing the game, looking at the moves list, and executing the fatality properly is too much for you. Or maybe you'll just want to spend $20 to unlock everything from the game's "krypt" section. Mortal Kombat is one of the great, long-running franchises of gaming and its popularity is already well-documented. Packing it with various real money transactions and having the game try to upsell me in multiple spots cheapens the experience. The PC version of Mortal Kombat X launched in a literally unplayable state due to it attempting to use the same kind of "play part of the game while the rest downloads" technology that you've seen on modern consoles. This ended up ruining the first night of play, but I haven't had any issues with that end of the game since. The PC version of the game looks fantastic with everything turned up and is well-integrated with Steam for matchmaking purposes. The two console versions are roughly the same, with the most meaningful differences being your controller preference and where you have the most friends to play with. The PlayStation 4 version of the game supports PS3 fight sticks over USB, which is a nice touch if you fell on the Sony side last time around and have that hardware already.
